They are in the process of renovating a 100 year old steam driven water pump and will need regular access to the top of the pump to keep it nicely lubricated once it is back in working order.
Attaching the Spandecks to purposely engineered brackets on the pump, gives the engineers access at around 4.5 metres to the upper moving parts. By painting it black the Spandeck walkways appear to be part of this wonderful old engine.
The museum is open to general public access on Wednesday’s.
