Founded in 1766 by Richard Tattersall, Tattersalls is the oldest bloodstock auctioneers in the world and the largest in Europe. Today, Tattersall is an international firm offering 10,000 thoroughbred horses each year at 15 sales either at its Newmarket headquarters in England or at Fairyhouse, Dublin.
Directly behind the auctioneer at the Newmarket site resides is an electronic complete listing board displaying the respective lots, bids and eventual sales price. When the gavel gets going this essential piece of communications kit has to keep functioning. However, in the event of any technical problems the onsite Facilities Management Team has to gain access safely and importantly quickly.
With the auctioneers rostrum situated directly in front of the board access was tricky and it needed an alternative solution.
Planet Platforms proposed that by building two small mobile scaffold towers at each side of the rostrum and linking the two with a proprietary Alutec walkway the Management Team could access the board with safety and speed.
Taking just a few minutes to position the preassembled towers and attach the guarded walkway board the trial demonstrated these exact requirements could be fulfilled. Delighted with this, Tattersalls saw that the system had other potential uses around their site offering cost benefits savings and safer work practices for their personnel.
