Now in its 7th year, the awards celebrate the district’s entrepreneurial spirit as well as incorporating new retail categories combining the success of an even wider range of businesses.
The ceremony hosted at the Cedar Court Hotel saw more than 50 shortlisted companies vying for awards across 12 categories.
Compered by announcer, Jon Hammond, Planet Platforms were nominated alongside PolyGlobal, Thurstons Group Limited, J.Marr Group and Coeur de Xocolat.
The win recognised the strides Planet Platforms has made to expand its overseas business reaching markets as far afield as the Caribbean and Middle and Far East.
With a bulky manufactured product reaching other international markets used to be difficult, as the costs in shipping alone would often stop projects even at the feasibility stage.
However, by investing in research and development, including stripping out existing design principles, Planet Platforms has evolved their product offering to include flat-pack designs.
This simply yet revolutionary decision cleared the way for manufactured product to reach even some of the most remote markets.
