Vessel Access Platform

Platform News

Confined working spaces often bring with them one very common problem for safe working at height; their unique nature means a custom off-the-shelf solution will not exist.

This is where Planet Platforms expertise for the last 40 years comes to the fore in designing, building then inspecting and maintaining a wholly bespoke access solution. One recent project for Bradford based Kemira Chemicals illustrates how both the work at height and manual handling regulations had to be considered.

Working on and around chemical vats in their premises, Kemira personnel needed an agile and versatile answer.

The solution was to install a fixed height platform with clip-on steps and removable guardrails. By removing the steps and guardrails, the platform can be folded up and taken out of the way when not in use. An electrical winch lifts the platform, thus removing manual handling considerations.

Folding up and out of the way freed up the work area and meant the solution considered the confined space.
