With services, such as air conditioning units, situated within the roof area getting maintenance personnel to work there safely is of critical importance.
Following the successful installation of several projects for CAF’s Manchester operations in the UK, Planet Platforms were invited to supply a number of safe working at height solutions for their business in Boston, USA.
Set on a steel base, for increased stability due to narrow nature of the depot environment, Planet Platforms boxing ring type platform provided the ideal solution for roof work maintenance activities.
Primarily of aluminium construction, the main body of the tower was of modular design so the whole system could be flat packed to help reduce shipping costs. The top guardrail section was then manufactured from non-conductive fibreglass tube to offer further protection, especially from the electrified lines close by. This boxing ring guardrail section is captive to the main body of the system and simply folds out to give personnel 360° fall protection.
